On May 29th, please join in celebrating our student art and raising important funds to support our community during this time of financial uncertainty. All contributions during our Virtual Community Gathering will support keeping our community whole in two crucial ways:
- Financial aid to retain current families and welcome new families.
- An appreciation fund for teachers and staff -- who have pivoted on a dime to create stability, continuity, and a positive learning environment for our students in a time of chaos
After the event, the Development Office will follow up with everyone who contributes to determine how they would prefer to split their gift between these two efforts. We value the voices of our community and are proud to highlight these two urgent priorities for FAIS.
An increased investment in financial aid is essential for our community. It enables FAIS to support our families experiencing financial strife as a result of this pandemic. We understand that this may not be a single year of need, and are planning to support that. FAIS is committed to keeping our entire community intact and ensuring that the School remains in a strong financial position to weather any storms to come over the next few years. Financial aid truly benefits the School as a whole.
Over the past two months, inquiries about new or additional financial support have grown by 25%, and we anticipate that these requests will continue as our community continues to feel the impact of COVID-19. We want to be prepared for this scenario. We have also extended the financial aid deadline and made our tuition payment plans more accessible to all families by offering additional schedules and reducing interest, and are committed to helping every family stay at FAIS. Learn more about the changes we’ve made to financial aid here.
Appreciation Fund for Teachers and Staff
Our community will also have the opportunity to support an appreciation fund for our teachers and staff to acknowledge their extraordinary effort over the past 10 weeks. This has been no easy task, but they have more than risen to the challenge.
Our teachers and staff have taken on an unprecedented role in transitioning our entire school structure and educational plan to virtual learning overnight. Teachers and aides have been working tirelessly to support our students, and are the primary connection our families have to the School right now. Staff have also worked around the clock, behind the scenes, in partnership and support. Together, they have ensured that FAIS continues to provide the rigorous multilingual academic program that you have come to expect, and that we continue to develop internationally minded and actively engaged students.
Though we’re unable to gather in-person this year, we can still join together in a spirit of celebration and appreciation. Thank you, in advance, for your generosity and for helping to sustain this incredible community.
