Earlier this month -- as a follow-up to our 3rd-5th Grade OBOB battles -- FAIS held our 5th annual battles for our 6th-8th graders! We had 16 students participating to form 4 teams, with each team reading 16 books and answering book-based trivia questions in an elimination style tournament.
OBOB is a statewide reading competition that encourages students to read a variety of genres and authors. Our Middle School teams competed against each other for the chance to represent FAIS at the OBOB Regionals (virtual) tournament on April 9th. There will be no State competition this year due to the pandemic.
The winners… drumroll, please… are a team of 6th graders, with the team name The Sauruses! Congratulations to the winning team (good luck at Regionals!), and a big round of applause for all of our participating students -- who also handled all of the supporting tasks themselves, including scorekeeping and timing for the other teams. It has also been fun seeing the students meet during their lunch recess every Thursday to connect over books and a love for reading.
