Alumna Kesiah Manival to Release Stop-Motion Animated Film

Kesiah Manival ('11) is in her senior year at CalArts, where she is studying stop-motion animation and currently working on her thesis film, "With Love, Escargot.

Kesiah attended the French American International School from 2004 to 2009, and later returned to campus to teach stop-animation summer camps. She attributes her early successes to the education she received at FAIS:

"Going to FAIS meant I was always surrounded by very mindful and caring teachers, who really created a special environment where I felt comfortable stepping out of my comfort zone when it came to how I approached assignments and projects. By the time I reached high school I felt really prepared to tackle the IB program, which came into play as  a big part of applying to CalArts later on."

Kesiah also credits FAIS' art program for enabling her to realize that art could be more than just a pastime or hobby, citing the support she felt when taking on a particularly intricate creative project. She says, "My classmates and I were never told something was too ambitious to be possible."
