Preschoolers Interview Police Officers, Top Chef, Middle School Builder, and Firefighters

The preschoolers enjoyed a visit last week from deputy Shannon Wilde and Detective Mark Povolny a.k.a "Cheese" from the Washington county sheriff's office. This is part of a series of interviews the students are doing for their unit on "Who we are: we depend on each other."

The kiddos also welcomed Top Chef alum—and current FAIS preschool and prekindergarten parent—Mattin Noblia for crêpes-making and dégustation (tasting). Greg Yoder, project superintendent from Triplett Wellman, stopped by to discuss his responsibilities in constructing the new Middle School building (opening in September!). The class also walked down to meet with our neighboring friends at Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue Station #60. When a student asked "Can girls be firefighters too?", veteran firefighter Dawn-Marie Cantrell replied "Yes, of course!" and shared that 23 years ago, she became the seventh female firefighter in Oregon's history!
