Fifth graders have built forts twice this week in the new Nature Play + Forts area in the forest. Their teacher, Cédric Strapart, says, “they love it!”
According to a 2010 National Wildlife Study, playing in nature has academic benefits:
- Improved classroom behavior
- Increased student motivation and enthusiasm to learn
- Better performance in math, science, reading and social studies
- Enhanced concentration
- Higher scores on standardized tests (including college entrance exams)
