FAIS Staff Honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. During Holiday

Over the weekend and while FAIS was closed this past Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., many of our staff members took part in local volunteer opportunities and educational workshops to continue his legacy of social justice. Thank you to those who organized the list of available options in town, many of which were child-friendly! Stéphanie Templier, 4th grade teacher at FAIS, was kind enough to share how her family took part...

“My wife (as a volunteer) and my daughter went to Freedom Camp for MLK day. The theme this year was about voting rights. My daughter, who is in kindergarten at FAIS this year, learned about the civil rights movement, fairness, and the importance of expressing yourself. They sang songs, made protest signs, marched, and celebrated Martin Luther King's birthday with a cake.”
