Current Volunteer Opportunities

Parent volunteers are essential to creating a positive environment and help nearly 200 students have fun! We need 40 volunteers for 3-4 hours on Friday, March 13 for the Gilkey Carnival. Below are the volunteer roles available:

  • Volunteer Coordinator: Coordinate communication and volunteers from now until Carnival

  • Food Coordinator - Coordinate with Refreshments committee, available to get food and help with Refreshments room on day Carnival

  • Carnival Chaperone Host: Works with volunteer coordinator during Carnival to make sure chaperone volunteers get break and dinner

  • Activity chaperones - Supervise activity areas: active, quiet, social, food, and carnival themed

  • Portrait Photographer - Take “photo booth” photos of students

  • Floating Photographer - Capture the excitement of Carnival activities

  • Floaters - Rotate in one area to give breaks to chaperones

  • Student support volunteers - help students set up Carnival (3:45-5:45)

Do you have a student athlete and a camera? You can earn volunteer hours simply by taking photos while you watch your student's games. Photos are used for sports pages in the Gilkey yearbook as well as other FAIS publications. Contact Gilkey's yearbook coordinator Lauren Sinclair at to learn what quality, file type/size, and upload processes you need to use.

Some companies (like Nike and Intel) offer a donation to the School for each hour volunteered by one of their employees. Check with your company to see if this applies to you and how to submit your hours!
