The 4th graders are doing research for their unit on water this month. The central idea is: the availability of water has an impact on humans / La disponibilité de l'eau a un impact sur les humains. In order to support this research we can use a pathfinder or guide, to get a bird's-eye view of resources available for that age group in French and in English online (including in the School databases) and in print. For login from home, IDs and passwords are available to FAIS students in "Research Tools" in FAIS Google sites.
As an example, the links below will take you to search results with the keyword "water" or "eau," for the different resources listed. Britannica School, Encyclopédie Découverte, Encyclopédie Larousse, and the videos from Brainpop.fr are available through our school subscriptions. Kids InfoBits and the online book, Water, by Melissa Stewart, are available via OSLIS, a service provided by the State Library to all schools in Oregon. This resource includes online books, magazine articles, and reference books.
