Gilkey Graduates Team up for Sarcoma Awareness

On Saturday, September 29, 2012, sixteen Gilkey graduates and one current student (Dorsey W.) participated in Northwest Sarcoma Foundation’s Dragonslayer 5K walk under the team name C.A.N.C.E.L. (Conquer And Never Cease Enjoying Life) Cancer. They were a bright spot in a sea of nearly 650 people in their orange and blue T-shirts, and pitched in willingly with clean-up. Team Captain Hadley Wilhoite said she organized the team because “We are Gilkey International Middle School graduates and thought that it would be fun to all get together, and realized that we could have fun walking and talking while we are helping a good cause. We also thought it would be cool to put the 'fun' back in fundraiser! :D” They did have fun…and they raised over $1,000 for Northwest Sarcoma Foundation while doing so. Participants were Ian Barnett, Emily Hyland, Alex Hyland, Andrew Krantz, Braam Beresford, Joey Resnick, Annika Irrgang, Utkarsh Yadav, Quinn Andersen, Caroline Friesen, Kate Richardson, Mia Baudey, Stephen Legge, Nikita Swinnen-Galbraith, Amber Grimmer, and Hadley Wilhoite.
