A New Take on Ice Cream Sodas
gluten free and vegan
During the last heat wave I was craving ice cream sodas; I hadn’t had them in years and we had some amazing mango sorbet in the fridge. I got some orange soda out and was totally disappointed. I guess I grew out of that sweet on sweet thing, and didn’t really want to serve it to my family. So I invented these. And they are amazing. There are so many good quality vegan sorbets out there now—do experiment.
- Mango sorbet
- Mix of fresh or frozen berries (blackberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- Lemon flavored seltzer or sparkling water (not the sweetened kind, just the water and lemon kind)
Put 2 or 3 small scoops of sorbet in a glass. Top with desired mix of berries and float with seltzer. If you use frozen berries, they will get icy. This doesn’t bother me on a hot day, but you could defrost them half way if you are worried about it.
