Green Team Hosts Guest Speaker

This past Wednesday the Green Team hosted a special presentation from Hannah Jones for all 3rd graders. Hannah runs the sustainability team for Nike. She spoke to the children about how change can come from individual actions and ideas. “For our constantly changing world we need ideas that have never been thought of before and need to have creative thinking to come up with these ideas.” She posed many thought-provoking questions, and led an interactive activity: students thought of sustainable ideas that had never been done then placed these ideas on a poster board. Many fantastic ideas came out of this exercise, such as a hamster-powered car, streets made of Velcro that would run cars and stop lights based on static electricity, and 3D technology for clothing! Hannah left the kids by asking “What’s one thing you’ll do differently?”
