    Eighth Grader Wins International Writing Contest

    Raimy Khalife-Hamdan won third place in a worldwide French short story contest organized by the Mission Laïque Française. Hundreds of native French speakers participated in the contest, and Raimy was a part of the 8th and 9th grade category.

    This year’s topic for the competition was “N’imitez rien ni personne. Un lion qui copie un lion devient un singe,” or “Do not copy anything or anyone. A lion who copies a lion turns into a monkey.” This is a saying originally coined by the famous French writer, Victor Hugo, who wrote Les Misérables.
