GILKEY COACHES
Meet the coaches of the Gilkey Eagle teams
Anselmo Arguelles
Anselmo teaches Spanish and social studies at GIMS. He currently coaches the middle school coed soccer team. He brings a lot of enthusiasm, skill, and knowledge to the game. In his free time he plays soccer and the bagpipes.
Eric Croll
Eric is a Gilkey parent who is assistant coach for the girls seventh and eighth grade basketball team. Eric played basketball in high school and football in high school and college. He is an active runner.
Denise Leblond
Denise is a middle school science and math teacher. Denise started running actively several years ago and got hooked. She currently assists with the cross country and track programs. She works primarily with the distance runners adding ever more miles to her already high weekly mileage. Denise is also an active cyclist completing her first “Century” in spring 2004. She hopes to complete a marathon sometime soon. Denise is also an active skier and has tirelessly organized the middle school ski trip for many years.
Jérôme Poncet
Jérôme has taught in the elementary school for many years and currently coaches the seventh and eighth grade girls team basketball. He played basketball as well as a number of other sports as a child growing up in France. His specialty is teaching the no-look pass and behind-the-back or through-the-legs pass. He could give Jason Kidd and LeBron James a run for their money. Jérôme plays on a couple of soccer teams in his free time.
Anne Prouty
Anne is a science and math teacher at Gilkey and initiated the athletics program. She currently coaches cross-country, fifth and sixth grade basketball, and track. She is active in her free time playing tennis several times a week, as well as bike riding thousands of miles each spring and summer. She is Lance Armstrong’s number one fan.
Scott Taylor
Scott is a Gilkey parent but is very devoted to Gilkey athletics as Assistant Coach to Coach Ron Thomas. He and his wife, Kimberly, recently donated the scoreboard for the basketball and volleyball teams.
Ron Thomas
Ron has been with FAIS for over twelve years serving as a physical education instructor and coaching after school sports. He initiated the middle school sports program by organizing a boys basketball team in Gilkey’s first year. Currently Ron coaches volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter, and track in the spring. He also teaches several other after-school classes, including rollerblading. Ron is a very active athlete in his own free time. Playing football, basketball, and softball.
