The FAIS Arts and Cultural Enrichment Week (ACE Week) was developed to bring students a greater awareness of the place of art in our lives. Based on research showing that children function optimally in sustained academic periods of no more than seven weeks, the FAIS academic year is divided into five seven-week periods with breaks for either vacation or ACE week. During ACE Week, normal class scheduling is suspended and students participate in workshops and view performances conducted by professional artists. The programs may include music, movement and dance, and visual arts and theater and usually have a theme. Recent themes have been FAIS du Cirque and Ancient Civilizations.

Arts and Cultural Enrichment Weeks occur twice a year during the months of October and February. School is not in session these weeks, but the FASCA staff offers an optional week of activities in order to provide an enjoyable and exciting week for the children who attend. Participation in ACE Week programs is optional (some families use this time for personal vacations or other cultural enrichment activities outside of school). Space is limited in ACE Week programs and pre-registration is required. There is an additional fee for these programs. Previous Ace weeks were titled: DESTINATION: les Caraibes! and DESTINATION: Asie Magique! and focused on dance, arts and crafts, music, cooking, games, and different cultures. October 22^nd -26^th
February 25^th -29^th

Registration

It is best to register early since the groups fill up quickly. The weeks will not be pro-rated if your child does not attend the full week. Note that registration is cheaper before these dates:

For October ACE Week:

Before October 5^th: $240
After October 5^th: $260

For February ACE Week:

Before February 4^th: $240
After February 4^th: $260

Registration forms can be picked up and turned in along with a check in the main building.

For each ACE week, we will have performances from different outside artists throughout the week, and on Friday we will have a performance by the children and artists in residence for the whole school community.

As ACE weeks approach, more information and a definitive schedule will be made available.
