The Extracurricular Department’s commitment to cultural enrichment manifests itself in our different programs, but most importantly in its own staff members. Our Extracurricular Aides share their international culture and knowledge every day. All of them have traveled overseas; many have even lived several years in, or are from, Central America, Asia, Africa, or Europe.

The Extracurricular Department provides an enriching and fun environment for students outside of the classroom. The department is responsible for covering lunch, recess, and the following programs:

A program for 5th-8th grade students including cross country, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track.

Arts & Cultural Enrichment (ACE) Week and Arts Week
Twice during the school year students have the opportunity to spend a week at the school participating in a cultural camp.

PM Classes
Students can also take specific PM Classes instead of choosing to participate in FASCA. Advanced registration required.

FASCA (after school care)
All students remaining on campus when classes end will be directed to this program. FASCA is separated by grade level. Activities, recess, and homework time are provided.

Care offered on most school In-Service days. In recent years, the program has expanded to include specialized workshops and field trips.

Summer Camp

A wide variety of weekly camps for all age groups are offered throughout the summer.

Artist in Residence
FAIS is proud to have Pendulum Dance Theatre as its artist in residence.
