Extracurricular Aide

The French American International School has openings for full time extracurricular aides to supervise students when they are not under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher: during lunch, recess, pick-up, and after-school care, for example. In addition to the qualifications outlined below, the successful candidate will possess a positive, problem solving attitude, the ability to work well as a member of a team, an ability to communicate appropriately with parents, and a willingness to accept responsibility for discipline and safety of students. This position includes a good deal of physical activity, including but not limited to: walking and standing for periods of up to up to 1 hour and 30 minutes at a time, bending, stooping, running, and occasionally restraining or lifting children. Child supervision occurs predominately outdoors in all seasons, therefore aides will often carry out their duties in cold/and or wet weather.


Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, experience in childcare and/or educational setting, flexibility and strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively as part of the extracurricular programs team, physical mobility sufficient to assure the safety of children.


Preferred Qualifications: Associate's or bachelor's degree, fluency in French or another language besides English, an interest in international education
