The French Bourse

The French bourse is a need-based financial aid program administered by the French government to assist French citizens with educational expenses at accredited French schools outside of France.  Families who are registered with the Consulate in San Francisco and whose children are French citizens, may apply for the bourse if their child is three years of age or older before December 31 of the year for which they are applying.  Eligible families are asked to apply for the bourse before applying for financial aid through FAIS. The French government establishes its own criteria for awarding the bourse.

The deadline for 2014-2015 application packets to be received by the Consulate in San Francisco is February 28. Please submit yourpackets to FAIS no later than Tuesday, February 18 for verification and forwarding to the Consulate.  This will allow time for families to obtain any documents they may be lacking.  The updated application form and list of supporting documents posted for download on this webpage.

For further details you may consult FAIS Director of Finance Paul Mallon at (503) 292-7776 ext. 311 or Philippe Ducornet of the Service des Bourses, Consulat générale de France à San Francisco, (415) 616-4913.
