GILKEY INTERNATIONAL MIDDLE SCHOOL
Welcome to the Middle School
The Gilkey International Middle School is a welcoming community of 150 students and 20 teachers. It is the middle years program of the French American International School. The students coming from our lower school join the French Track where they continue to study most of their subjects in French. Students who do not have a French immersion background join the International Track, where no previous immersion is required, all classes are taught in English, and students take one beginning foreign language class.
The Gilkey International Middle school provides a student centered learning environment where academic rigor takes place within inviting and nurturing social interaction. Certified teachers, trained either in the US or in Europe, deliver a rigorous curriculum based on both French and American standards. The teachers work together so that students from either track work toward the same objectives. All teachers at the Gilkey International Middle School have chosen middle level education because they enjoy the energy which is characteristic of this age group.
At the Gilkey International Middle School we believe that young adolescents enjoy learning and give their best in a structured and caring environment which supports their rapid growth, change, and growing independence, and which respects their very specific needs. The ratio of students to teachers creates classes with sufficient group dynamics and space for personal attention.
